Gym BFFs

Phew, I’m back! I’m sorry for my random disappearance yesterday – it was very unexpected.

I came home last and my TV and internet were totally out! And of course, when I called to find out what’s going on, the customer service line was closed and told me to “check on line for frequently asked questions and problems.” Umm… I CANT get online people, that’s why I’m calling!! So after a mild breakdown and frantically calling Chris on the phone, we managed to figure out that there was a mix up after my debit card info was stolen a few months ago, and my bill wasn’t getting paid!! Except that they never let me know it wasn’t being paid, and since I had it set up on autopay, I had no idea! Yikes!!!

Luckily a quick trip to the Comcast office and a very nice and understanding customer service lady later, we managed to have it all figured out. Phew! I was so stressed and upset about it last night, I could barely sleep! I mean, I’ve never paid a bill late in my life, and so to be 4 months behind and have my TV cut off was crazy!

Anyway, that is why I wasn’t able to post last night. By the time it got turned back on, it was almost midnight and sleep was definitely a priority.

So to quickly recap yesterday, I just want to share with you the exciting evening I had. It started out with a dress fitting and alteration, and I’m so excited for how everything looks! Guys, it’s all starting to feel so real!! A little over 2 months from now I’ll be walking down the aisle! AhhhhH!!! 🙂

From there I met up with Chris and his dad, who is in town from Germany, for dinner at the Capital Ale House in downtown Fredericksburg. This restaurant has a TON of beers on tap and in bottles, it’s almost ridiculous.

I got the Richmond Chicken Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The sandwich was delicious but the bread was just so gigantic, it was a little difficult to eat! I dominated those sweet potato fries though!

Today

So back to today – it was actually a really terrific Friday! I had a busy but super productive day at work, which always makes for a nice end of the week. Then I made a stop at Comcast (thanks again to the wonderful customer service rep there!) before heading to the gym for Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp!

Guys, I have to be honest with you – ever since I started Bootcamp and I carry around my little bootcamp binder in the gym, people talk to me. It’s kind of weird. All kinds of people will ask me about bootcamp, or joke about how “hardcore” I am with my binder, or just say Hi in general. This has totally led me to have conversations with random people at the gym almost every day. Now, I’m kind of a super shy creature by nature, so me spending 20 minutes talking to a new friend at the gym is kind of insane. Also, I totally apologize to the lady on the treadmill near us when we spent 20 min talking. I didn’t mean to be THAT person at the gym.

But today it got even crazier, and I did something I am usually WAY too chicken to do. I asked questions to one of the trainers and had him walk me through some moves. And not just any trainer, a big, muscly trainer man. Considering I tend to hide in my little corner in the ladies section of the gym, this is huge for me! But Tina’s workout called for a few machines that I wasn’t familiar with and couldn’t locate in the gym, so I was forced to ask.

And you know, it was really helpful! He walked me through the moves, watched me do some and corrected my form. He even gave some good tips about some of the moves, and showed me how to use a stability ball to make them even more challenging.

Guys, I have some new gym BFFs! This is awesome!

Dinner

Because I spent so long chatting at the gym with my new friends, I actually got home later than planned. So I needed another throw together dinner. (PS – thank you so much for all your sweet comments on my last “throw together dinner”. You guys are the best!)

Anyway, so after seeing this delicious quesadilla on Chelsea’s blog recently, I’ve had a craving ever since. And you know me and Mexican food – we’re pretty much a match made in heaven. So I cooked up some mixed peppers, onions and some random banana peppers that a coworker brought in from her garden, tossed them onto a tortilla with reduced fat cheese, black beans, and salsa, and called it a quesadilla!

Holy cow, this sucker was both delicious and filling!

Alright, well now I’m off to relax a bit before bed. I have a pretty busy morning tomorrow, so I have to be up super early! So much for sleeping in on Saturdays…!

So tell me: Are you a social butterfly at the gym, or are you all business?

    It’s so great that you’re feeling more comfortable at the gym, and making friends too! It’s funny how getting fit and healthy can actually force you out of your shell a bit, I’m a naturally shy person as well but I find since starting my healthful journey I’ve become more out going. I think it’s the pride you take in yourself and they way you carry yourself, people get drawn to that positive energy. Plus now that you’re at the gym all the time, people see you as hard core and probably admire that.
    Every time you mention how close your wedding is, it only reminds me of how close mine is since our weddings are only weekends apart 0_o. How are you staying so calm about the whole thing? I find I’m stressing out and just wanting to hide under a rock lol.

      I definitely think workout out has brought me out of my shell, and has been a great way to connect with new people. And I know – they are so close!! And I’m totally not calm! I’m in like constant freakout mode! Can I come hide under a rock with you??

        Yay!! Rock friends! And seriously – wedding planning is supposed to be fun, right? (At least that’s what everyone told me before I got engaged…)

        Yeah everyone says that, but either they are lying or they realise that it won’t help us to say “ya it’s a horribly stressful experience, you should have eloped” lol. I’m hoping that has things fall together, it will feel less stressful and for sure on the actual day we’ll both be too happy to care with what went wrong 🙂

    I usually just keep to myself at the gym, but I’ll say hi to people I see a lot or chat with the group exercise instructors!

    You’d think Comcast might have given you a heads up that your bill was past due?! What the heck!

      Yea, that was definitely my usual too. Which is why it’s so strange to actually have conversations with people at the gym beyond “how are you?” now! And I know, right?? So annoying!!

    I totally know what you mean about gym bffs. Let me tell you, you’re definitely in the cool kids’ club! At my old gym, there was a group of women who took classes together and became gym BFFs. I am all business at the gym so I get in and get out, but I can honestly say that I was a little jealous after a bit because their workouts seemed FUN where mine seemed like work. So I think you’re onto something, with gym friends!

      I definitely agree – working out seems so much more fun if it’s more social. Even just being around people that I can wave too makes me push a little harder!

    Yummmmm your ‘dilla looks amazing 🙂 And good for you for talking to new gym people!! I’m usually like this too at the gym so I totally understand what a milestone that is. Go you!

      I love that you called it a ‘dilla. Haha. And I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who is usually shy at the gym. All the muscly people look so scary! And I KNOWWWW!!! It’s insane!
