Good morning everyone!
I can’t believe it’s Monday already! This weekend felt like it FLEW by! I could definitely have used an extra day or so (and some extra sleep) to prep for Monday. I’m still getting used to this whole getting up early thing – I forget how early 5:45 is until my alarm goes off. Ouch!
For all you people who get up even earlier to work out. I have NO clue how you do it. I can barely manage to be out of bed before 6!
Anyway, let’s recap the weekend, shall we?
Friday
I actually don’t have ANY pictures from Friday night, but Chris and I definitely had an interesting evening. We volunteered to watch my neighbor’s kids for the night (ages 6 and 4) while her husband was in town for a few days so that they could go have a night to themselves.
Holy cow, it was exhausting! In a 7 hour period, we managed to watch 3.5 movies (Wreck it Ralph, Rise of the Guardians, Brave and Tangled, to be exact), and at our way through almost 2 pizzas.
Phew! If that doesn’t prepare you for (eventual) parenting, I don’t know what does!
Saturday
We knew Saturday was going to be a busy one, so we decided to get up fairly early to get our run in.
I then quickly showered, changed, and headed up to Northern Virginia (in 2.5 hours of traffic, mind you) for my old roommate’s bridal shower!
(Stupid sun got me – But I’ll take a bright, warm spring day, even if it means bad pictures!)
She is going to make such a beautiful bride, and I can’t wait to celebrate with her in April!!
After that I headed back down through traffic to Fredericksburg, and came home to a productive husband! While I’d been gone he’d made a major trip to Lowes!
Not only did he get a ton of yard stuff AND a new dogwood tree for our front yard, he also got a whole bunch of herbs and planters! He got cilantro, mint, chives, oregano, basil, parsley and a rosemary bush! I’m so excited for all the things we can do with these!
Now I just have to turn my black thumb of death into a green thumb, and we’ll be good to go!
Dinner Saturday was a new creation of mine (recipe coming soon) for a Greek chicken burger that turned out amazing!
Sunday
We were up SUPER early Sunday morning to make it to the 8am Easter service. I have to admit, Easter is one of my favorite religious holidays ever because I always think the service, especially the music, is so beautiful. Definitely worth getting up at 6am on a Sunday for!
We had special plans after church with my in-laws, and headed down to Staunton, VA to meet up with Chris’ sister and step-sister who came up from school. We met at the Depot Grille for a joint Easter/Birthday celebration for his step-sister.
Fried mushrooms and artichoke dip were had by all. I had the “Seafood Grille”, which was basically a pile of shrimp, scallops, and crab meat on a giant pile of potatoes, onions and mushrooms. It was delicious, but about 3x the size of my stomach. Definitely took home multiple boxes of leftovers!
After making the trek back home, Chris and I spent the rest of the evening cleaning house, including making a big dent in one of our “room of boxes” in the basement. While it wasn’t the most fun activity, it was definitely nice to be so productive on a Sunday evening!
By 8pm were were finally hungry again, and planted ourselves on the couch with a giant plate of nachos (we had 2 avocados that were on the peak of going bad) and Game of Thrones (thank you free HBO weekend!)
What a perfect way to end a Sunday night!
That’s it for my recap of my super busy Easter weekend! Happy Monday!
PS – Happy April Fools Day! I have to admit, this is one of my least favorite holidays – I hate being fooled. I’m sure I’m going to get caught in many of them today. I’m too gullible!
So tell me: What did you do this weekend?
I’m sooo thankful we have today off; I usually get an April Fool’s Day trick from at least one of my students!
Haha, one of my coworkers got hit BAD with one by her son, who texted her that he got a girl pregnant. She was a mess!
Sounds like we were both going up and down 95 this weekend! How AWFUL was the traffic?? It took me THREE HOURS to get home from Richmond on Saturday when it should have just been a little less than two. So annoying. Sounds like you had a great weekend though!
We probably were! It took me over 2 hours to get from Fredericksburg to Lorton, and about and hour and a half back!! Crazy!!!
I would love to have a garden of fresh herbs!
I wonder who created April Fools Day? I need to Wikipedia that information 🙂 Seems like such a random holiday…
Wow – looks like it was actually mentioned in The Canterbury Tales and is a day celebrated in many countries of the world. Had no idea!
No way!! Who knew?? (Other than wikipedia, of course) But I agree – totally a random holiday!
Aw, you and your friend look cute! and congrats to her 🙂
