Face licking

15 Feb

Today was one of those crazy days at work where I probably spent more time on the road than I actually did in the office. It made the day go by really quickly, but it definitely made me want to pull my hair out a few times.

Makes me miss the days of my old normal 9-5 where I actually got to sit in an office all day. Except of course in those days I was crammed into a cubicle and never got to see the sunlight…

The grass is always greener, right?

This morning started off all about Laney though. We woke up early so we could go check out a doggie day care for my sweet puppy girl! While she is really good with all of her obedience skills (we got shake DOWN… except now she has gotten into the habit of putting up her foot as soon as she sits down), we struggle a little in the socialization department.

Pretty much every time she sees another dog she wants to run and jump all over them and lick them to death. But for SOME reason, other dogs don’t seem to enjoy having their faces slobbered all over. In fact, one of the dogs in our obedience class used to cower every time she came near.

Yea, my dog was the class trouble maker.

So we checked out a doggie day care facility in order to get her some more experience with other dogs.

Mahogany Ridge

We checked out Mahogany Ridge which is a huge facility just outside of downtown Culpeper. It was actually a really great experience – we got to meet the owner, Laney got to learn what an Alpha Dog means (and she learned that lesson quick. A few growls from the Alpha and she definitely learned her rank!), and she got to run around in circles for an hour. I definitely think it may be worth pursuing for a month or so to get her some socialization skills!

After work I headed straight to the gym. I started out with a mile incline walk/run (since I had like 15 minutes to kill before class started), and it was definitely nice to run again. It’s been a few weeks since I did any serious running! After that was CXWorks (with a new track… and man was it a killer!) followed by BodyCombat.

I’ve learned to love BodyCombat even though I’m highly uncoordinated and trip over my own feet at least once per class. I actually almost punched myself in the chin today, I got a little overzealous with the uppercuts. But it is still a great workout, and always leaves my shoulders sore in the morning.

Then it was home to take Laney for a walk and scarf some leftovers. And watch Survivor, of course. It was that or Dance Moms on the agenda for tonight…. and don’t pretend like you don’t watch Dance Moms too. It’s addicting!
