Wedding, Part 2: First Look and Portraits

26 Mar

Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday, guys! My first day of my new job was spent entirely in training at HR, so I’m almost considering today my REAL first day – the first day I’m going to go to into my actual office space.

Also, please forgive me for the random or somewhat sporadic posts this week. My new job starts 30 minutes earlier and has a VERY different commute, so I’m still trying to figure out the best morning schedule (which is when I normally blog). I’m totally NOT a morning person, so this adjustment takes me a little while.

And usually a few mornings of hitting the snooze button way too many times.

ANYWAY, I did want to share with you all (as promised) some more wedding pictures!

This is Part 2 of my review of my November 3, 2012 wedding. Check out Part 1 here!

Once we got engaged and I started doing some research into the whole “wedding” thing, I learned that despite the traditional superstition that the bride and groom should not see each other prior to the ceremony, a new tradition had begun to emerge: The First Look.

Essentially a first look is a time for the bride and groom to share a special moment together before the ceremony, and it’s typically caught on camera. From a practical standpoint, it also allows for more time for bride and groom portraits before the ceremony.

While people seem to be split on the whole first look thing, Chris and I discussed it and decided to go for it. From what we’ve heard from many of our recently married friends, it really doesn’t take away anything from that moment where you first see each other while walking down the aisle.

Plus we were kind of pressed for time all day, so having those moments to take a few pictures made all the difference for us! By the time we got to the usual portrait time after the ceremony, the weather had turned super cold!

Anyway, here are some of the pictures from our first look and our portraits. Enjoy!

There you have it – some of the First Look and Portrait pictures! Next up, ceremony!

I hope you enjoyed this random Tuesday post! I’ll be back tomorrow with a regularly scheduled WIAW!

So tell me: Have you ever had your pictures professionally taken? I never had until our engagement photos. I tend to be very uncomfortable in front of the camera, so this definitely took some getting used to!!

I love this and it is the one thing I would’ve done differently about my wedding. I think that first moment is so precious and would’ve loved to have had a minute alone with Marty before the ceremony (I think it would’ve helped with my nerves too!)

Although I am definitely a traditionalist, I’m really glad that we did the first look. And it didn’t ruin that aisle first moment either!
